Collecting Art in Today's Market with Kim Martindale
Kim Martindale, a Los Angeles based gallery owner and art fair producer will lead a discussion about buying
fine art and building a collection in today’s market. Martindale will provide advice on selecting cherished,
soundly-invested pieces for you home. Advanced collectors as well as those who are considering their first
purchase will benefit from learning about navigating art fairs as well as negotiating with informed dealers.

The Art of Living with Craig Raywood
Prominent interior designer Craig Raywood brings his unique design sensibility to this much-anticipated
lecture on the Art of Living. Featured in such publications as The New York Times and House & Garden, Craig
brings his background in fine arts, fashion and even cooking to invigorating discussion. Based on what the
designer calls "minimal opulence," his goal is not to 'decorate,' but to evolve the space which captures the
essence of the inhabitant. Learn the art behind his internationally-recognized luxurious bohemian style!

The American Society of Interior Design unveils the next installment of informative lectures with this
exciting and educative talk by a prominent area designer. While the dialogue will be geared toward the trade,
the entire design community is welcome to come and benefit from this insightful and informative design

The Art of Breaking the Rules with Richard Landry, AIA
In the introduction to the upcoming book on Landry Design Group, architecture critic Michael Webb describes
Richard Landry as "an eclectic architect, equally comfortable with traditional and modern forms, which he
weaves together into a timeless whole." In his presentation, Richard Landry will discuss his unique approach
to design. Using newly photographed homes and on-the-board projects, Landry will illustrate how certain rules
of architecture can be bent, and even broken, to yield creative solutions to today’s lifestyle requirements. A
luncheon and book signing for "MODERN TO CLASSIC – Residential Estates by Landry Design Group" will follow the

The Language of Gregg Fleishman

This exhibition presents a variety of products conceived over a period of thirty years by Los Angeles native
architect and artist, Gregg Fleishman. Using mostly modular components made out of structural plywood or
rowder-cut sheets of finished multi-layer birch plywood, which becomes flexible and can be shaped, folded, and
transformed with minimal non-qualified labor, Fleishman creates innovative comfortable seating. The exhibition
includes s c u l p t C H A I R S, TOYS Modular, Portable PLAYGROUNDS, Disaster EMERGENCY HOUSING, and
preliminary studies for MOON SETTLEMENTS.
M.L. Snowden Master Sculptor Ultimate Protégé of Rodin

Master sculptor M.L. Snowden’s technique comes from four generations of internationally known sculptors
including Auguste Rodin, Robert Eberhard, and George Snowden. Inspired daily from Rodin’s actual hand made
sculpture tools and learned working methods she communicates universal truth through visual language. Among
her inspirational works, Snowden created a composition of Angels which is a part of Los Angeles Cathedrals
main altar. Her sculpture "Cataclasis" has been accepted into the permanent collection of the White House.
Treehouses in Paradise

An exhibit of drawings, renderings, models and video, Treehouses in Paradise is an exquisite showcase by over
100 architects from 40 countries. A celebration of creativity in design from around the world, this special
installation coincides with the Abrams publication of the book by the same name, organized by David Greenberg.
The book "Treehouses in Paradise" has created a lot of excitement both in the press (being featured in many
publications from Dwell to the New York Times) and at the bookstores as it became available this month due to
its unique subject matter but mainly because it shows a side of an architects creative genius not often seen
particularly from so many countries. The designs often focus on the Green side, using material and systems and
ideas that aim to a more ecological future as well. It is also a book about the potential of fantasy and
imagination in design not often seen.

MOCA Pacific Design Center

Bill Owens: Suburbia

This exhibition includes a selection of photographs from Owens' classic 1973 book, Suburbia, which explored
the burgeoning townships that sprung up around Livermore, California. Comprised entirely of photographs from
MOCA's collection, Bill Owens: Suburbia offers a glimpse into the suburban way of life that began to exert a
powerful influence on American culture in the early 1970s. The exhibition is curated by MOCA Curatorial
Associate Rebecca Morse.
